WHAT IS A HAND THERAPIST?

A Hand Therapist is a Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist that has undergone additional training in assessment and treatment of the hand and upper limb.

DO I NEED A REFERRAL TO SEE YOU?

No you do not need a referral. We can assess you and process your ACC claim.

WHAT WILL THE SESSION INVOLVE?

This depends on your injury / condition. Your Hand Therapist will assess you and may provide you with exercises or a splint. Your rehabilitation plan will be tailored to ensure we are working together to achieve your individual goals.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO MY APPOINTMENT?

Your hospital discharge summary or operation notes

HOW LONG WILL MY APPOINTMENT BE?

Appointments are generally 30 minutes long. Some conditions require a longer appointment and if this is the case you will be informed at the beginning of your session.

IS THERE A CHARGE TO SEE YOU?

There is no charge for ACC visits. If you are a private patient an Inital visit is $90 and follow up is $80.
